According to media reports, a shipping insider revealed that the ship was an ocean-going vessel of YML (Yang Ming Marine Transport). "The cargo was a dangerous refrigerated cargo of Class 5.2 peroxidants picked up by HMM Shipping Company, which shared a cabin with YML Shipping Company. When it was bound for the Middle East from Shanghai, the cargo was not plugged in during the transshipment at Ningbo Phase III Terminal, which caused an explosion." At the same time, the insider said that the container was loaded at a constant temperature, but due to the high temperature in Ningbo recently, whether there was improper operation that caused the temperature to rise remains to be investigated. In addition, an initial accident briefing from Yang Ming Marine showed that thick smoke was initially found coming out of a container on the bow deck, and the on-duty personnel immediately notified the first mate and the terminal, after which the fire brigade required all personnel to evacuate to a safe location at the terminal.
